Education today is entering a spectacular and unforeseen stage. Learning, gathering information, and gaining knowledge - the various facets of education are at a brand new level, thanks to technology. Virtual and augmented reality is taking over the world at a pace never imagined 50 years ago. As we celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the M.Sc Nursing and the Silver Jubilee of the Ph.D Nursing Programmes at the College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore, it is my pleasure to write the preface for this special Jan-June 2020 issue of the Indian Journal of Continuing Nursing Education.

The hallmark quality of Alumni from College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore is that they are recognized to be different wherever they go. In every part of the globe, they are continuing to carry on the wonderful name of CMC. Just as our pioneers laid the foundation for Nursing to expand and move to new horizons with M.Sc and Ph.D. training, it is now our choice to excel in all fields of Nursing in such manner to steer the profession towards meaningful contribution to society. We need to grab the opportunities that present with the changing times and keep pace with technology. As the health care needs of society drastically change with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is paramount that nursing remains proactive and make visible contributions in health care field in par with the legacy of our forerunners.

It is at such times that Nurses can impact the world around, not only in the day - to - day contribution at the bedside, but through innovative methods of management, education and research. Our writings and scientific contribution leave their mark behind for others to benefit. At this point, let me congratulate all the Alumni of College of Nursing, CMC, Vellore who have contributed to this special issue with your valuable articles. May God bless this endeavour.
